QUARTERLY INVESTMENT SUMMARY – January 2009
There was abundant evidence over the course of the final quarter of 2008 of a deepening recession in the advanced industrial world and of a sharp slowdown in growth in China and other emerging economies. Severe contraction across all sectors of the economies such as manufacturing, consumer spending, and services was exacerbated by further tightening of credit conditions, despite extensive injections of public funds into banks.

QUARTERLY INVESTMENT SUMMARY - October 2008
Central bankers and finance ministers will probably look back on September 2008 with horror as their worst nightmares came into being and the year is on course to be a true annus horribilis. The credit crunch, having celebrated its first birthday in July, decided to grow up and transform itself into a full blown solvency crisis with the banking system at its heart. Investors and governments alike were simply appalled as the firestorm blew through markets, with little or no sign of abating even as we write.
